Nutreco has appointed Gabriel García as the new CEO of its business unit Nutreco Iberia. He takes over this position from Javier Rodríguez, who passed away last week. García currently leads Skretting Chile, one of Nutreco´s largest operating companies, and will take up his new position as of 1 September 2016.

As part of his new position, Gabriel García will also join the Nutreco Executive Committee. During the intervening period, CFO Angel Martinez Aso will oversee the management of Nutreco Iberia, together with the existing management team.

“Javier has transformed Nutreco Iberia into a very well-managed business that combines market leadership with operational excellence. His passing is a true loss for our company,” says Knut Nesse, CEO of Nutreco. “At the same time I am pleased with the appointment of Gabriel. He is an experienced manager and, quite important, he is at home in the Spanish culture.”

Gabriel García has a degree in forest engineering and holds an MBA. He has been general manager of Skretting Chile for the past 7 years. “I look forward to taking up my new position and to build on the thriving company that Javier and his team have built,” says García. “And from a more personal perspective, I like the prospect of moving to Spain. As son of Spanish immigrants it will bring me back to my roots and closer to family and relatives.”

Who is Nutreco Iberia?
